School in 1954 and then was employed by Kodak, where I met my husband, Bob, there in

there in 1954.

We got married in 1956 and in the years to come had five children, Colleen, Dawn,
Elizabeth, Robert and Amy.  We have lived since 1961 in Parma on Manitou Road and we
were one of the founding members of St. Mark’s.
In December of 1964, I sang for Midnight Mass in the chapel of Star of the Sea with a small
group of church members.
After my son was born in January 1970, I was approached by Irene Martin to sing with the
choir and I sang during Lent and for Easter.
After that, I continued to sing under the direction of Irene Martin, Carl Faber, Don Meminger,
and finally, Joe Ilardo.
I have been involved in many aspects of church life, like the Rosary Society, Social Ministry,
and for 26 years I worked Bingo, until it stopped.
All these things tie in for the church and they are all closest to my heart.
Joe McGonagle

I have been a parishioner at St. Mark’s since 1976.  My wife Margaret and I and two children,
Lynn and Joseph, came to the U.S.A. in 1973 from Scotland.  And interestingly enough, we
sailed over, it took eight days.

that I am Irish and although born in Scotland, I have Irish parentage and spent most of my
summers there as a young lad.  I love Irish music and humor.

summers there as a young lad.  I love Irish music and humor.
Spiritually, I have a great devotion to Our Lady.   I am very Pro-life and try to encourage
Eucharistic Devotion and Exposition.   Just one hour a month , even to a busy lifestyle, that
is not much.
I like meeting new people, so please feel free to stop and talk to me anytime.   Just don’t
expect me to remember your name, at that I am truly hopeless.
I must mention at this point that I have six adorable grandchildren or I will never hear the
end of it!
Lastly, I am most pleased with the amazing number of young parents and families calling
St. Mark’s their church and the talents they bring with them.
