Box of Joy
By sending a Box of Joy – filled with toys, clothing, school supplies, a rosary and the Story of Jesus – our parish can demonstrate Christ’s compassion to poor children in developing countries. There are 3 ways to help:
- Boxes will be supplied (12” X 5” the size of a shoe box) along with a list of suitable items. Take a box and purchase a variety of items from the list provided. We suggest you include one quality gift that focuses on fun and mark the sex/age appropriately on the box and return to Church by September 28th. You may wish to write a personal note and say a prayer for the child receiving the box. To cover the cost of shipping please include a check made out to Cross Catholic Outreach to cover the cost of postage ($9.00 for each box) and place it in the donation box in the Narthex by September 28.
- Donate items from the gift idea list provided on a table in the Narthex, from September 7th through September 28th and put the gifts in the appropriate totes provided in the Narthex. Gifts can be for a boy or girl in the age ranges: 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14 years of age. These items will help fill up more boxes.
- Place a monetary donation made out to Cross Catholic Outreach in the Good Samaritan box in the Narthex from September 7th through September 28th to cover the cost of postage for the boxes we will be packing with the items donated in option 2.
The boxes that we will be sending are sources of immense joy to the children who receive them and our joy is in the giving. On a Box of Joy distribution day, the whole village gathers to celebrate with songs, dances and prayers of thanksgiving and when the gifts are opened the children are delighted to see the boxes filled with items selected just for them. FOOD PANTRY
The food collection project served by the Greece Food Shelf has restarted. There is a bin in the Narthex for you to put any nonperishable food items, paper products or personal care items to be donated.
Please make sure foods have not passed their expiration date. Food prices are higher now and the need is even more acute. Thank you for your constant generosity to those in need in our area.
